A Thirty-Year Employment Relationship is a Win-Win
A thirty-year employment partnership between Hoffman and a Minnesota nonprofit benefits both Hoffman and the community. Hoffman is helping create employment opportunities for adults who may otherwise find barriers to employment and receives high-quality production and commitment from loyal staff.
A Partnership that Works
Hoffman is a leading designer and manufacturer of systems to safely and reliably protect the electronic controls and mission critical electrical systems in industrial, data communications, commercial construction and government applications.
For more than 30 years, Hoffman has partnered with Rise, a nonprofit organization that supports people who have disabilities and other barriers to employment. Through the partnership, 40-60 Rise employees work on small-parts assembly and kitting projects at Hoffman’s headquarters and manufacturing plant in Anoka, Minnesota.
“It’s a partnership that works,” said Mike Bauman, Human Resources Director at Hoffman. “Rise employees get a chance to grow and have careers. Hoffman gains outstanding workers who help Hoffman deliver quality products for our customers as we grow our business.”
When Hoffman began the partnership in 1978, Rise employees completed projects for Hoffman on Rise premises. Today, Rise employees work onsite at Hoffman’s Anoka facility; many Rise participants are now longtime Hoffman employees who have made a significant contribution to Hoffman’s success.
Community Partnership
Through this partnership, Hoffman achieves consistently high quality work while contributing to the independence of Rise employees. Support for the partnership starts at the top. Del Nickel, president of Hoffman, said, “People with disabilities maintain their independence through access to employment, social activities, and community services.”
The Hoffman-Rise partnership is an example of Pentair’s commitment to the communities in which it operates, and the company also supports Rise through the charitable efforts of The Pentair Foundation, whose mission is to enrich and enhance the communities in which Pentair operates.
