Health and Safety Practices
Advancing our Perspective; Creating Greater Impact
At Pentair, we believe we all have a responsibility for the health and safety of our employees, and for our impact on the environment. These commitments - embedded in our Code of Conduct - are an integral part of the Company's management process. We know these commitments can benefit our employees, our shareholders and the communities in which we operate. Our business operating system, Pentair Integrated Management System (PIMS), focuses on using Lean Enterprise methods and processes to reduce waste and improve results. That extends to Environmental, Health and Safety policies and processes.
To ensure that we fulfill our environmental, health and safety commitments, Pentair has established four key objectives for our environmental and safety practices:
These objectives were recommended by the Citizenship Council and endorsed by the Executive leadership team in 2008. Today, they are recognizable in a wide array of practices and policies, some of which are outlined below, to help ensure that:

The newly launched Pentair Supplier Code of Conduct ("Supplier Code") formalizes Pentair's practices and makes clear that, recognizing differences in cultures and legal requirements, we expect that wherever our products and the components that comprise them are produced, they are produced in a manner compatible with the high standards that contribute to the outstanding reputation of Pentair and our brands. Suppliers are required to comply with this Code and to have and maintain practices similar to those in the Pentair Code of Business Conduct and Ethics (available at www.pentair.com).

This Supplier Code applies to all facilities involved in the production of products and components for Pentair or any of its subsidiaries ("Pentair Suppliers").
Pentair strongly encourages suppliers to exceed the requirements of this Code and promote best practices and continuous improvement throughout their operations. If there is no local legal requirement, or if a local legal requirement is not as strict as the requirement included in this Code, Pentair Suppliers are required to follow the requirement in the Supplier Code.
