OVERVIEW
Bacteria Doesn’t Stand A Chance Against UV
Ultraviolet (UV) light is found on the light spectrum just below visible light. Its natural power has germicidal properties, allowing it to be used as a pathogen reduction method that does not require the use of salt or harmful chemicals. For this reason, UV is an ideal solution for homeowners on well water, which typically sees higher levels of bacteria and viruses as a result of environmental impacts. Allow us to introduce the Pentair Premium UV Disinfection System. Don’t let its small footprint fool you, this system is certified to be 99.99% effective at reducing waterborne pathogens. It features a UV Intensity Monitor that detects changes in Ultraviolet Transmittance (UVT), ensuring appropriate doses are used to deactivate bacteria. Cool-Touch fan technology helps reduce the temperature within the chamber to prevent overheating. Other features include:
- UV sensor technology gives real-time performance information
- UV Intensity Monitor detects changes in UVT (Ultra Violet Transmittance) in the water to help ensure the necessary dose is given at all times
- Lamp Age Display will count down to indicate when the lamp should be replaced.
- Cool-Touch Kit significantly reduces water temperature while not wasting water, ideal for homes where water is not used on a regular basis
- Lamp plug ensures that the UV lamp cannot be powered if it is not in the chamber
Hassle-Free Maintenance
Powerful UV Performance
Water Taste & Odor Not Affected
Inactivate Waterborne Pathogens
How it works
-
UV Lamp
-
UV disinfection prevents bacteria, viruses and other pathogens from reproducing by permanently altering the DNA of the microorganisms in a process called thymine dimerization. The microorganisms are inactivated and rendered unable to reproduce or infect. The disinfection process does not affect taste, color, or odor of your water.
-
UV Intensity Monitor
-
Detects changes to Ultra Violet Transmittance (UVT) in the water to ensure the UV is providing the necessary dose needed to inactivate the bacteria. If the dosage falls below 75%, it will trigger the flow of water to the home to stop.
-
Cool-Touch Kit
-
Significantly reduces water temperature and does not waste any water. This feature helps reduce alarms for water “over heating” and triggering the sensor. This is recommended in situations where water is not being used on a regular basis.
-
Integrated Flow Restrictor
-
Assembly is simplified by the use of an integrated flow restrictor. Includes combo ports for flexibility to connect to either 1 ¼” NPT or 1” FNPT
-
Lamp Age Display and Alerts
-
The display will count down to indicate when the lamp should be replaced. When 30 days remain, the lamp light will show yellow and the alarm will sound giving you time to order your new lamp.

What is Cool-Touch and why would I need it?
-
A Cool-Touch system is needed for all UV systems that have UV intensity monitors where water is not in use 24/7. The Cool-Touch will move water through the UV chamber to reduce the temperature of the water. If the water is allowed to get too warm, the UV intensity monitor detects that the UV intensity is too low and sets off an alarm. This Cool-Touch helps to prevent the alarm from going off and keeps the water cool inside the chamber. The UV lamp is always on, so adding a Cool-Touch system is a requirement if water is not always in use.
-
Does a UV system require a lot of maintenance?
-
All you have to do is periodically clean the lamp sleeve and replace your lamp once every 2 years – simple processes you can complete in minutes. For ease of handling, the lamp and protective quartz sleeve are designed as one component. However, they can be replaced separately. No tools are required for maintenance.
-
Why is it recommended to pre-treat the water before installing a Premium UV System?
-
We recommend a 5-micron sediment pre-filter to remove dirt and debris. The quality of your water can affect the dosage of UV disinfection the system provides and can cause premature "sleeve fouling," which will require the sleeve to be cleaned more often and may damage the UV sleeve. Pretreatment safeguards against these possibilities
